Bugle Training Page
Unlike the sheet music for download page, this page contains all of RAF Bugles calls that you will need. This will aid your practising and deepen your understanding of the tradition of performing with your bugle. Here is a useful website where you can hear what the some of the tunes should sound like www.royalengineers.ca/bugle.html
Hawaii Five-O (Not a bugle tune)
This training video highlights the work that you need to do in order to improve the performance.
It is a very good attempt!
Things to work on:
Tempo - try to get the tune going a little faster without losing the musical quality
Percussion - think about what the audience want to hear when you are playing this. Remember to keep below the sound of the trumpets. You are working as a team not as a bunch of individuals who want to out do each other through volume!
Well done though, it is getting a lot better!
Bugle Tune No.2
This video will give you a clear indication on things you need to work on, but very well done for learning a new tune! You must keep up your practise!
Things to think about are:
Breathing - ensure that you take adequate breaths in order to the fullest sounds to come out of the bugle.
Lips - make sure you prepare your lips by warming up. It is so important as to not damage them.
Togetherness - practice coming in and pulling off notes together. The more together you sound the greater impact and the more enjoyment your audience will have in listening to the tune.
Well done! Really good effort!
